Susan Moffat

Project Director

As Project Director, Susan Moffat provides intellectual and administrative leadership for the Public Histories/Public Futures Initiative and the UC Berkeley Global Urban Humanities Initiative.  She coordinates curriculum development, builds teaching teams, organizes symposia, supports the development of publications, and conducts outreach across disciplines to faculty, graduate students, and the off-campus community. On behalf of the grant’s principal investigators, Dean Jennifer Wolch and Dean Anthony J. Cascardi, she is responsible for grant management, budgeting, fundraising, student advising, curriculum, and communications.

Morgan P. Vickers

Graduate Student Researcher

Morgan P. Vickers is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography. Their current work focuses on drowned towns of the Santee-Cooper Project in South Carolina, wherein 901 families were displaced in the name of New Deal “progress.” Thematically, Morgan’s work contemplates Black geographies and placemaking, federal dam and reservoir projects, affect theory, community memory studies, and questions of belonging. Morgan manages the Future Histories Lab online presence, and has deep experience with and passion for public humanities initiatives.
